5 Things I Did To Climb Out Of My ‘Weight Loss’ Rock Bottom…

After I gained 20 pounds in ONE MONTH! 😲

Ok quick question…

How many times have you lost weight only to gain it back?

That shit is so STUPID!

I did it WAYYYY too many times..

So many that I lost count.

This has been such a common theme for the women that come to us…

They’ve usually tried a million other diets, expensive nutrition plans, and personal trainers.

I knew losing weight would make me more confident in my skin…

Going shopping would be easier… or less depressing if I’m being honest.

I wouldn’t so hesitant to accept invitations to different events, parties, or get-togethers with friends, coworkers, and loved ones.

As I spent years bouncing from diet to diet like the ball in a pinball machine… yeah.

I would get in better shape… then gain weight back.

Over and over.

Nothing I tried worked…

Or it didn’t work long term.

Once I found the exact formula, I knew that others like you needed it…

Don't worry… Sarit and I have been testing these strategies on ourselves for the last 6-8 years and if it works for us…

Then you can trust they’ll be sustainable for you too.

Keep in mind…

You’re starting where YOU’RE starting.

Don’t gauge your progress based on where anyone else is on their journey.

You’re awesome!

Let’s get into it.

Here are the EXACT 5 things that changed the game for us…

**OH!! And if you want us to walk you through these and go deep on them WITH us (LIVE), check out when our next Free 5-Day Transformation Kickstart Challenge starts!!

5 THINGS:

THING #1: Stop Trying To Be Perfect

Perfect (by definition) is something completely free from faults or defects, or as close to such a condition as possible.

For the longest time… and I didn’t even realize it…

THIS was what caused me to keep running my head straight into a brick wall every time I tried to eat healthy and workout.

Me on Sunday night…

“I’ve got all my meals prepped, my workout shoes are ready to go…

THIS IS IT!!

This time is the TIME!

I’m going to stick to my nutrition and I’m not gonna stray…

No exceptions.

Not even one extra bite, lick, or taste!!

Nobody can stop me; I’m so motivated right now!”

Monday: Perfect

Tuesday: Perfect

Wednesday: STILL PERFECT… but chicken is getting kinda boring (BUT I GOT THIS)

Thursday: God, those donuts look good… but I’m NOT gonna do it!

Friday Morning: I’m seriously over this… but I’m gonna keep going… God, this fuckin’ chicken…

Friday evening: ok, I’ll just have like… a small snack on Friday evenings because that’s more realistic and I’ve been perfect all week.

**eats one girl scout cookie**

Friday night: I already messed up, so… FUCK IT ALL

Saturday: FUCK IT ALL

Sunday: FUCK IT ALL, AGAIN… because I’ll start tomorrow.

The moral of the story…

Trying to be perfect is a recipe for disaster.

An expectation set so high that it seems like it can never be reached.

But what if you were to simply take one step forward each day.

THING #2: My workouts were not the problem

Even when I ate like crap, I would still workout.

Actually… I would usually workout MORE so I could try to burn some extra calories from either what I had already eaten… or what I knew I was about to eat.

STILL didn’t work.

It’s super cliche to say. “you can’t out-train a bad diet”… so I’ll say this.

You can eat and drink like an asshole WAY harder than you can workout!

Movement is great.

Do it.

It keeps your heart healthy.

It makes you strong so you can defend your title as the arm wrestling champion in your old folks home when the time comes.

And it can also help make you sexier naked, yes….

All of these things can be true, BUT…

You don’t need to spend hours in the gym, buy P90x, Insanity or the next Jillian Michaels.... DVD (yes, I said DVD… ) until you can learn to stop acting like a garbage disposal on the weekends.

And let’s talk about if you’re injured…

Or recovering from surgery of some kind…

Or sick…

Or there’s some other reason it wouldn’t be smart for you to push yourself physically.

Yeah! … so you can’t even workout.

What, are you just supposed to be destined to gain weight??

Of course not, but it can be tough.

SO, nutrition and other lifestyle habits are going to come into play here!

And since you’re not workin’ out… you have more time to eat!

Talk about a double-edged sword!

But it’s the perfect opportunity to practice your planning and preparation so that you CAN stay on track with your nutrition.

THING #3: Setting your focus on just EATING LESS will stall your metabolism

“Calories in, calories out,” they say…

To be honest I don’t know who “they” are… but that’s what my trainer used to tell me.

She used to say, “if you burn it, you can eat it!”

I love her, 100% still to this day (10 years later), but knowing what I know now… psshhhh

After my 5+ years of struggling with binge eating, yo-yo dieting, calorie counting, etc…

And the tens of thousands of women who we’ve helped in various programs we offer over the last 4 years…

That’s not the advice we give.

Hear me right… my trainer was NOT wrong…

The information was right… but the focus was wrong.

It’s not just about eating less…

Or “If it fits your macros”.

It’s about EATING MORE… of the RIGHT food.

This is why we provide our clients with our food quality guide

Focus on the quality first…. THEN dial in the quantity.

THING #4: MOTIVATION vs DISCIPLINE

Have you ever lost motivation to workout or eat right?

Me too…

There are days I’d rather just stay under the warm covers and snuggle with Sarit and the dogs…

If I ONLY relied on motivation… WHO KNOWS…

Maybe I wouldn’t have even written this article… ok, I probably would have anyway.

But that’s also because I’ve built discipline and when I say I’m going to do something, 95% of the time, it gets done!!

Check this out…

Motivation: “the reason or reasons one has for acting or behaving in a particular way.”

Discipline: “the practice of training people to obey rules or a code of behavior, using punishment to correct disobedience.”

When looking at those from the dictionary, “discipline” looks HARSH!!

But it’s what will keep you going when you don’t feel like it.

“Using punishment to correct disobedience”... WOW!

But wait…

Consequence: “a result or effect of an action or condition.”

So isn’t punishment a consequence?

And aren’t there consequences to EVERY action?

YES… think about it.

If I eat broccoli all day, for every meal… I will fart and poop my brains out (consequence, punishment).

If I workout and push myself constantly, lifting weights over the course of several years, I will become stronger and have bigger muscles!

Consequence.

This is good…

Discipline is a GREAT thing.

If we don’t discipline ourselves, the world will do it for us…

Truth.

What discipline / consequence / punishment can you give yourself (that is productive, I might add), to make the decision to get out of bed, get your workout done, say no to the cookies your lovely neighbor brought over KNOWING damn well that you’re trying to lose weight…

…Linda… smh

THING #5: “EASY” is a straight up lie

Weight loss is HARD!

I used to say that “life is hard”...

But I’ve recently changed that to say that hard things happen in life.

In our society (thanks to amazon prime, doordash, and instacart) we look for convenience.

We look for easy.

We look for quick.

THIS. DOESN’T. WORK.

A huge mistake I had made when losing weight (A mistake I made more times than I'd like to admit) was trying to do it as fast as possible.

It always involved some kind of heavy restriction and miserable eating plan…

I’d weigh myself and if I didn’t lose any weight then I just concluded that it didn't work for me and my discouragement led to more food.

And more food lead to more discouragement.

It is a vicious cycle.

If you have 40 pounds that you want to lose, would you rather it take you 2 years to lose 40 pounds?

Or continue trying to lose the same 40 lb (or more), struggling and feeling defeated for the rest of your life?

This might change your perspective on losing weight fast…

So instead of saying that weight loss is HARD…

Let’s say that hard things happen when you’re losing weight.

It’s the truth…

And the sooner you can embrace that fact, the easier things actually get.
